F.A.Q.
Here are some common questions we receive—if there’s anything else you’d like to know, please feel free to reach out!
What types of riding lessons do you offer?
We offer both English and Western riding lessons, with a special emphasis on Western. Our lessons cover horsemanship, riding techniques, and horse care, so riders develop a well-rounded skill set. Whether you’re a beginner, an advanced rider, or someone returning to riding after a break, we have a program tailored for you.
At what age can children start lessons?
We welcome young riders starting as early as age 4! Our focus is on safety and fun, helping little ones feel comfortable and confident around horses. We also have options for older kids, teens, and adults, so the whole family can get involved.
What should we expect in a beginner lesson?
In a beginner lesson, we start with the basics: getting to know the horse, learning to groom and tack up, and understanding basic commands. Wes make sure that you or your child feels comfortable before moving on to more challenging skills. You can expect a lot of patience and encouragement as you get started!
Are the horses safe?
Yes! Our horses are well-trained, gentle, and carefully selected for beginner and intermediate riders. We take pride in having safe, reliable horses that allow riders of all ages to feel secure and comfortable. For more advanced riders, we also have horses suitable for honing more technical skills.
What should I wear to a lesson?
Riders should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, ideally with a small heel (like boots), to ensure a safe and comfortable ride. Helmets are recommended but not required, you’re welcome to bring your own if you have one.
How long are lessons, and what is the typical schedule?
Lessons last approximately an hour. We offer flexible scheduling throughout the week and on weekends to accommodate busy families, homeschoolers, and working adults. Let us know your availability, and we’ll do our best to find a time that works for you!
Can adults take lessons here?
Absolutely! We welcome adult riders, whether you’re just starting out, looking to return to riding, or seeking to improve advanced skills. Many of our adult students find riding to be a rewarding way to relax, exercise, and connect with horses.
Do you offer lessons for advanced riders?
Yes! We offer advanced lessons for experienced riders who want to refine their skills, learn new techniques, or prepare for shows. Our advanced lessons can include more challenging exercises, patterns, and, if desired, specific work in English or Western disciplines.
Do you offer group lessons or only private lessons?
We offer both private and small group lessons. Private lessons are ideal for personalized attention, while small group lessons offer a fun, social environment where riders can learn together. Let us know your preference, and we’ll match you with the best option.
Can we just come for a one-time ride or is it a commitment?
We do offer single-lesson “introductory rides” for those wanting to see what riding is all about. However, we recommend regular lessons to help build skills and confidence. Riding is most rewarding when you get to experience it consistently!
Are there any options for families or multiple children?
Yes, we love working with families! We’re happy to arrange back-to-back lessons for siblings or family members to make scheduling easier. If you’re interested in lessons for multiple family members, let us know, and we’ll do our best to coordinate a convenient plan.
